How to hang paper around difficult areas.

Hang paper around doors and windows:

  • Hang the entire strip of paper over the door or window and smooth into wall before trimming.
  • Make diagonal cuts in the wallpaper at the corners of door or window molding to position paper flat against wall and molding edge.
  • Trim excess with a razor knife.

    Hang paper around electrical oulets:

  • Remember, electrical power should be off!
  • Hang strip over outlet, cut an "X" into strip and trim each of the 4 flaps to edges of outlet.

    Hang paper around toilet and radiator pipes and permanent fixtures:

  • With scissors, cut vertically up to where the paper will meet the pipe or fixture.
  • Smooth paper into place around the pipe or fixture. Carefully trim around pipe or fixture with a razor knife.
  • Resmooth paper at the vertical cut making sure the edges are butting.
  • Use a yardstick to smooth paper down behind toilet tanks etc.

    Hang paper around plumbing and heating pipes:

  • Smooth strip up to edge of pipe.
  • Cut horizontal slit into side of strip to reach pipe.
  • Cut a hole at the end of the slit to fit around pipe.
  • Touch together the edges of slit and smooth.
